The dynamic and continuously changing business environment creates challenges for many organizations. The expectation is to deliver breakthrough results and maximize profits while managing talent limitations, tight budgets, and in many cases, suboptimal processes and systems.

And so, the use of consulting companies is a viable solution in much demand.
The traditional consulting model is often time-consuming, and it looks something like this:
1. A team spends months gathering data, which the organization must provide
2. The data is analyzed with the help of the organization resources
3. Recommendations are made, which the organization has probably suggested
4. A final presentation is made on spotless PowerPoint slides
So, what is wrong with this picture?
Well, for starters, the organization has done most of the work. Midway through the analysis, it has also probably figured out the answer on its own. And it is now solely accountable for delivering the expected results whether they become attainable or not. And as far as the consulting company goes, it gets well-paid while having no skin in the game.
I am not trying to be a cynic here. I have also faced the same dilemma. Neither am I implying that this is not a practical solution. But I will argue that while this alternative may work for some large organizations, it may not be the model that fits the needs of smaller, fast-growing organizations.
For small fast-growing organizations, speed and affordability are essential. And speed is one thing the traditional consulting models may not be able to deliver.
